Orvis Fly-Tying School
Fly tying is creative, highly rewarding and wonderfully fun activity to share with friends and family. Whether you want to catch fish on your own flies or just enjoy the craft side of fly dressing, this 3-week course will introduce the tools, materials & techniques needed to tie your own flies.
All ages & abilities welcome - under 18s are more than welcome to attend the Orvis Fly Tying School, however they must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.
All equipment, materials and refreshments are provided.
School Location: Stockbridge, Hampshire
Winter School: Sunday 21st January, Sunday 28th January & Sunday 4th February 2024.
Spring School: Sunday 3rd March, Sunday 10th March & Sunday 17th March 2024.
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

PROGRAMME
10:30 - Arrive in store and meet your host. Tea, coffee and refreshments provided.
10:45 - Instructor led fly tying.
12:30 - Review of the session and wrap-up.

Week 1: Introduction to basic fly-tying tools, materials and skills.
Get familiar with your vice, thread control and adding additional materials as you tie classic buzzer, nymph and wet flies.
Week 2: Successfully using synthetics, feather and fur.
Gain confidence and craftmanship using more materials to create life-like lures and dry flies.
Week 3: Creating shape and form.
Extend your skills by learning to create adaptable new body features such as legs, wings and tails.
