Richard Mathewson
HAMPSHIRE
Guiding: Richard Mathewson is a Hampshire based fly fishing guide and instructor. He has a Scottish family background, so started fly fishing from a young age spending a lot of time outdoors and on the banks of the river with his Scottish relatives. He spent most of his working life in the Information Technology and Communications industry before taking early retirement and now divides his time between guiding and instructing, and helping out on the river. Living in the Itchen Valley, he is equally at home fishing for trout and grayling on the southern chalk streams as well as for Salmon in Scotland or overseas destinations.
He is passionate about fly fishing and a strong believer in the curative benefits of being in calm, scenic, surroundings which act as a powerful antidote to the stress and strains of daily life. A lifetime member of the Wild Trout Trust, he is an advocate of the role anglers can play in conservation efforts and fish welfare. He is an Angling Trust Licenced L2 coach, fully insured and DBS checked.

Michael Rescorle

Guiding: Born and raised in Cornwall, where he fished off rocks and piers, Michael settled in Winchester on leaving the army and was soon back on the coast hunting bass and mullet, as well as freshwater species in the lakes and rivers. Michael is a Level 2 Licensed Angling Coach and is a guide for the Orvis Beginners’ Saltwater Weekend, the Orvis Saltwater Fly-Fishing Festival, and the UK Saltwater Fly-Fishing Festival. He runs guided sessions for groups and individuals to introduce them to shore-based Saltwater Fly-Fishing but also guides on the river Test and Itchen.
